"The team provide pragmatic advice, and are responsive as well as being innovative when needed." Chambers and Partner UK

Contentious Tax

In the face of increasingly hostile tax authorities, complex legislation and rising levels of litigation, our contentious tax team can help prevent, settle and litigate disputes at every stage.

We always aim to settle disputes without the need to go to court.  However, when a dispute does arise we are fully able to protect your interests.  We are proficient litigators in all courts including the Court of Justice of the European Union.

We act on a wide range of complex, high-value matters across a variety of sectors. We have special expertise in disputes involving property transactions, structured finance and VAT. We have a particular focus on how to deal with cases where the UK's domestic tax system potentially breaches EU law and/or double tax treaties.

Our contentious tax team integrates the experience of our tax lawyers and litigation specialists from offices across the world. Our UK team includes a CEDR accredited mediator and a barrister.  We can co-ordinate advice from our partner firms in other jurisdictions.  This ensures an efficient, seamless resolution to international disputes.
