Transforming a law firm takes a lot more than hard work and good clients. One needs extraordinary people, market leading technical excellence, clear strategic goals, inspirational leadership and a uniquely strong culture plus an uncompromising dedication to delivering to clients the highest quality of service at the best value for money.
At BLP our vision is to be the most respected law firm in London. We focus on providing our people with the best place to work and our clients with the highest quality legal services. In addition to our leading reputation in real estate our corporate and finance businesses are making big waves in the market.
Over the last three years our corporate practice has grown by 55% and finance by over 50%. In the last year we won more key client panel positions than ever before and our London turnover was up a further 20% to £145m.
Whilst the firm continues to make strategic partner hires from other firms, we are committed to promoting associates to the partnership from within, with a further 12 such promotions in London on 1 May this year.
BLP is dedicated to providing its people with clear career guidance and support to fulfil their potential. The firm has recently launched the BLP Framework - or Best Lawyers' Profile Framework - which sets out the firm's expectations in terms of the activities our lawyers carry out, the skills they need to possess to do that effectively and the legal technical knowledge they need to master to always exceed our client's expectations. In addition, the firm's career structure allows our lawyers to progress from trainee level through junior to senior associate and from there to partnership. The firm recognises that some associates' career aspirations do not include attaining partnership, and for them we have created the new role of Associate Director which affords the opportunity to contribute to the firm's success by taking on a management role in addition to their fee-earning activities.
One of the cornerstones of the firm's recent successess is the quality of our training. An excellent training programme is fundamental to the firm's goal of becoming the best law firm to work for. The training we offer is also part of the firm's commitment to our people at Berwin Leighton Paisner everyone has the opportunity to engage in continuous learning.
