The BLP Managed Legal Service set for landmark pan-European partnership

BLP’s groundbreaking Managed Legal Service, which is set to transform professional services, has entered into a framework agreement to establish its first pan-European partnership. This follows the launch of the service earlier this year with Thames Water as its first client.

Under the arrangement, BLP has taken over on an exclusive basis the management of all employment law services to Colt, Europe’s leading information delivery platform, and is designing a Managed Legal Service solution for Colt’s global employment law needs which delivers a range of benefits to Colt including:

– Significant savings and greater budgetary control;

– Quality advice with guaranteed performance standards;

– Consistent approach to risk management across Colt’s 13 EU operating companies; and

– Simpler processes and elimination of administration.

BLP’s Managed Legal Service is led by BLP’s head of corporate, John Bennett, who said: “The BLP Managed Legal Service goes further than any other legal service delivery model to address the combined pressures on clients of increased regulation and complexity against a backdrop of budgetary constraints.”Mr Bennett added: “Our planned partnership with Colt demonstrates the flexibility of the BLP Managed Legal Service in addressing all of a client’s legal needs or their needs in specific work areas, business units and/or geographies.”

Robin Saphra, Group General Counsel at Colt, said: “We are working towards an ambitious timetable with BLP and believe that this service will provide us with an enhanced quality of employment legal advice, delivered in a more accessible and responsive way. “The BLP Managed Legal Service will deliver an elegant solution for managing employment law advice across Colt’s European businesses ensuring that it receives consistently high quality legal services, managing risk whilst controlling cost and ensuring value for money.

“This service breaks new ground in how a business like ours works with its professional service providers.”

Neville Eisenberg, Managing Partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner, said: “We are at the forefront of redefining the way big businesses and professional services firms work together. The Managed Legal Service will create long term partnerships with clients, aligning our interests with theirs so that we become more actively involved in improving business processes and reducing inefficiencies.“At a time when businesses are struggling to manage increased regulation and during a tough economic climate, this is a good way for clients to ensure they have access to the best expertise and advice available whilst achieving cost savings at the same time.”
