Segun Osuntokun recognised at UK Legal Diversity Awards 2017
Segun Osuntokun, Partner at international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), has won the Diversity and Inclusion Impact Award at the UK Legal Diversity Awards 2017.
He was presented the award at the prestigious ceremony held in London, in recognition of his work in the BAME Community and for spearheading BLP’s Race for Change initiative.
Segun is a Social Inclusion & Ethnicity Champion and co-Chair of the Social Inclusion & Ethnicity Group at BLP, a task force that is responsible for encouraging BAME aspiring lawyers to enter the legal profession, supporting the development and retention of BAME employees and fostering a positive culture for BAME and all colleagues to have open discussions about ethnicity and inclusion in the workplace.
Recognised by Chambers and Legal 500 as a ‘leading individual’ for banking litigation and civil fraud, as well as a ‘foreign expert’ on Nigerian disputes, Segun is Head of BLP’s Africa Group and many of his cases relate to or originate from jurisdictions in sub-Saharan Africa.
“It was a real privilege to be recognised by the UK Diversity Legal Awards. I believe however that the recognition should go to the members of BLP’s Social Inclusion and Ethnicity Group, whose enthusiasm and commitment have ensured that our Race for Change initiative has flourished.”
Founded in 2009, the UK Diversity Legal Awards are the only industry awards which focus solely on recognising, promoting and celebrating equality, diversity and inclusion across the legal profession.
