Goltsblat BLP named International Office of the Year at 2010 Legal Business Awards
Goltsblat BLP, the Moscow office of law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), is celebrating after being named International office of the Year at the 2010 Legal Business Awards on 11 February. The awards, which are some of the most prestigious in the legal calendar, were attended by almost 1,000 people.
This is BLP’s first award for an office outside London and comes just a month after the Moscow office celebrated its first year anniversary by securing a large number of global clients and completing several significant transactions. Goltsblat BLP was formed in January 2009 when BLP joined forces with leading Russian corporate lawyer Andrey Goltsblat and a number of his partners and colleagues, offering a Russian international legal service.
The Legal Business judges said: “Berwin Leighton Paisner pulled off the largest law firm merger to date in Russia and caused a sensation in Moscow when it merged with (a team from) leading domestic firm Pepeliaev, Goltsblat & Partners. The achievement was all the more impressive given that the Russian economy has been in its worst state since the late 1990s.”
GBLP managing partner Andrey Goltsblat said: “I am thrilled that we have been recognised by our peers in this way. It is such an amazing achievement that our clients responded so well to our new international offering, in what has been a relatively short space of time. We are fortunate to have an enthusiastic team in Moscow and the support of colleagues in London too.”
BLP’s managing partner Neville Eisenberg added: “This award is testament to the commitment shown by Andrey and his team over what has been a challenging year. It also demonstrates the success of our flexible, client-focused approach.”
