Double hire for BLP Finance Team – Jayne Black and Eleanor Hunwicks join as Partners

Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has hired finance experts Jayne Black and Eleanor Hunwicks as partners, taking the number of partners in the Finance team to 37.  Both Jayne and Eleanor were previously at Katten Muchin Roseman Cornish LLP.

Over the last five years, Jayne and Eleanor have combined their structured finance and real estate expertise to create a market leading practice advising servicers of commercial mortgage loans. Their move to BLP coincides with changes to shifting economic conditions which have increased legal complexities faced by participants in the market.

This double-hire is the latest round of appointments at BLP and reflects the firm’s continued investment in structured finance.  The news follows the recent appointments of financial services specialist Sidney Myers and corporate tax expert Kevin Cummings, both from Allen and Overy.

Simon Allan, BLP’s Head of Finance, said: “As the environment has changed, so has the role of the asset manager.  These changes have opened up opportunities to provide a greater range of legal services to clients in this sector which, thanks to the appointment of Jayne and Eleanor, BLP is ideally positioned to meet.”

Commenting on their appointment Jayne said: “BLP’s depth and breadth of legal expertise will enable us to meet the growing needs of our clients during this challenging time.”

Eleanor added: “As the majority of my work is linked to real estate, I am particularly pleased to be working with the market leader. The international preferred firm strategy and wide global reach will also allow us to serve clients in a range of different locations.”
