BLP’s Hong Kong office to move to prestigious new premises

International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) announces the signing of the lease to relocate its Hong Kong office out of Central district to Taikoo Place in Quarry Bay, in October 2016.

BLP has signed a six year lease with Swire Properties for 15,000 sq.ft in Dorset House. The amount of space to be leased will accommodate approximately 100 people to allow for further growth of the team.

BLP’s move to Taikoo Place marks the first international law firm to open an office in the modern district. Other notable tenants include J. P. Morgan, BNP Paribas, DBS, Facebook, LVMH, Prudential and AXA.

Bob Charlton, BLP’s Head of Asia comments: “As you’d expect from BLP, our decision to move to Taikoo Place is a first for legal services in Hong Kong. Well known for our innovative and game-changing approach to client service, we are equally as forward-looking when it comes to the growth of our business.  Taikoo Place will allow our team to work in a modern and collaborative environment which will enable us to improve the way we work each day, to the benefit of our clients.

“Our move into the built environment centre of Hong Kong is an exciting development in the legal services market. A move to modern open plan working, already enjoyed by many of our colleagues in our London office, and by our investment in IT improvements, and smarter co-location of our teams, will also result in better communication and collaboration for our multidisciplinary teams on more complex matters for our high quality clients.”

BLP’s new offices will also incorporate modern client facilities including a flexible seminar and conference space to allow for large scale professional events.

BLP instructed Jones Lang LaSalle to advise on the new office search and location.

“We are delighted to welcome such a great name from the legal fraternity. It is a further endorsement of our vision for Taikoo Place that such a progressive firm like Berwin Leighton Paisner would choose to locate their offices here,” said Don Taylor, Director, Office, Swire Properties.
