BLP is named AIM Law Firm of the Year 2008

Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP (BLP) has won AIM Lawyer of the Year at the 2008 Growth Company Investor Awards.  BLP beat off stiff competition from other leading law firms including Eversheds, Hammonds, DLA Piper, Fasken Martineau Stringer Saul and Jones Day.

The AIM market has been one of most successful in the world, attracting more than 1500 companies from across the globe with a combined market capitalisation of around £100bn. The award reinforces BLP’s leading presence in the market, the firm’s number one rankings in the AIM and equity capital markets categories in the main legal directories.  BLP was recently praised by Chambers UK 2008 for being “in a class of its own”.

Since 2002, the firm has advised on 97 IPOs with a total capitalisation of £7.8bn, raising over £2.4bn. These include numerous international clients such as: Indian animation company, DQ Entertainment plc, raising approximately £26.83m; AsianLogic Limited on its flotation on AIM and related £53.9m fundraising, valuing the company at £122.4m; and Russian real estate developer MirLand Development Corporation on its admission to trading on AIM at a market capitalisation of £478m.

David Collins, Head of Corporate Finance, said: “The award is a great recognition for the excellent effort put in by everyone in the team. We have had a very successful 2007 that, in a quieter market overall, saw the team act on 8 AIM IPOs for a wide range of businesses operating across a multitude of jurisdictions.”
