BLP hires outsourcing expert Craig Rattray

Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has appointed Craig Rattray as Director – Outsourcing to join its specialist IT and business process outsourcing team.

Craig, who was previously a partner at Addleshaw Goddard, and before that DLA, will be tasked with strengthening and broadening the delivery capability and BLP client base of the outsourcing team.  He specialises in IT and business process outsourcing and IT procurement, with a specific focus on the financial services sector, and has previously spent time both in-house and on secondment with leading banking groups. Craig has worked on a number of high profile IT and outsourcing projects in both the private and public sector, including the multi-billon pound NHS Connecting for Health Programme and a wide range of outsourcing projects for one of the UK’s largest banking groups.

BLP already has a proven record in a wide range of outsourcing disciplines, and Craig’s appointment is testament to BLP’s ambition to enhance its capability further.  Craig will be working closely with BLP outsourcing head, Mark Lewis, to support key clients through major outsourcing transactions.  His hire follows recent partner recruits, including private equity expert Raymond McKeeve and banking and capital markets specialists Richard Hughes, Jayne Black and Eleanor Hunwicks.

Mark Lewis, BLP’s head of outsourcing, said: “At BLP we view outsourcing as a market rather than a deal add on. We are committed to growing the team here and Craig’s appointment signals our drive to expand the services we offer clients.  His status in the sector and deep experience of IT and business process outsourcing will be of significant benefit to our clients.”

Craig said: “Outsourcing projects are often business critical and complex, requiring multi-disciplinary teams with deal experience providing specialist advice to manage the associated risks. I am therefore pleased to be joining a firm that recognises this and is so willing to invest in and build a strong outsourcing practice.  I am looking forward to working alongside Mark Lewis to further develop the brand and client base of this highly regarded team and having the global backing of both our international offices and preferred firms.”
