BLP announces strong financial results for 2014/15

International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has today (19 May 2015) announced further improved financial results for 2014/15. Turnover increased 6% to £259m. Profit per equity partner (PEP) increased by 22% to £659k. In addition, the firm ended the financial year with no bank debt and positive cash balances of £12m.

The key growth areas have been the Real Estate Sector, Litigation and Dispute Resolution, of which Commercial Dispute Resolution saw a significant rise, and Finance. The Corporate Finance team has also benefitted from recent deal activity and continues to perform well. The firm has continued to grow its international client base and the arrival of Bob Charlton as Head of Asia as well as the hire of nine lawyers in Hong Kong positions the Asian offices strongly for the year ahead. Despite a challenging geopolitical climate in Russia, Goltsblat BLP (GBLP) has also maintained growth and generated profit.

Lisa Mayhew, Managing Partner, BLP, said: “We have completed another impressive year and to increase our business by six per cent establishes a strong foundation for the future. Growth in Real Estate and Infrastructure sector work, our contentious businesses and transactional work are the bedrocks to this success, but overall our great financial performance is the result of ensuring that our clients are at the heart of everything we do. We continue to listen to our clients so that we remain focused on providing a high quality service leveraging off our abilities to work differently using our Manchester office and other enterprise businesses to meet our clients’ needs now and in the future.”

At the end of April LOD (Lawyers On Demand), a BLP group company and the original flexible legal service provider, announced a 42 per cent annual growth with a turnover of £12m. Tom Hartley joined in March as a Managing Director to boost the further growth of the business. Additionally, BLP’s Manchester office goes from strength to strength with high utilisation levels and a broad range of service offerings.
