BLP announces hire of Alison Crosland as Real Estate COO
International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has announced the appointment of Alison Crosland as its new Real Estate COO. At BLP Alison will be responsible for the day to day management of one the biggest Real Estate practices in the UK, which includes dedicated commercial, planning and disputes teams.
Alison joins BLP having spent over 20 years at Control Risks Group, an independent international specialist political, security and integrity risk consultancy, where she was Main Board Director, a role she held from 2002 to 2011. She was responsible for the day-to-day running of the fast-growing company, developing and implementing group-wide strategies and leading the HR, IT and Marketing functions across the business to support growth and service excellence. Alison assumed a number of roles during her time at Control Risks including Director for Information and Director of Business Operations.
Most recently, she was Operations Director at LGBT Finance, a start-up linking the LGBT community to financial and legal professional advice. She took the company from concept to a fully-realised site generating revenue. Prior to this, Alison was COO at Asperity Employee Benefits, a private equity-backed international company offering flexible benefits for employees. She was responsible for developing cost-effective, scalable operations to ensure rapid growth in the e-commerce environment as well as building a strategy for international expansion.
At BLP, Alison will work alongside the Partners to ensure that the firm continues to deliver innovative, market-leading and quality work to clients. On an international scale, BLP handles multi-disciplinary cross-border matters for a global client base.
Commenting on her new role, Alison said: “BLP’s Real Estate capability is best in class and with lots of change across the legal market at the present time, there are a number of new challenges that we are looking to meet head on. I believe my experience overseeing businesses across a number of different sectors will stand me in good stead for this role, and my international experience can help the Real Estate practice develop significantly. Whilst the property market has experienced a challenging time since 2007, the last few years have seen huge growth and opportunity; it is an exciting time to join such a forward thinking law firm.”
Chris de Pury, Head of Real Estate at BLP, added: “Alison comes with an impressive track record of developing and implementing strategies, driving change and delivering growth. She’s experienced in managing complex, fast-changing international environments and this will be of enormous value to our global Real Estate business.”
Alison replaces Danielle Nagler who has relocated to Israel and still works for BLP as a consultant.
