BLP advises Mid Europa on the acquisition of UPC Slovenia

BLP has advised Mid Europa Partners (“Mid Europa”) on the acquisition of 100% of the Slovenian cable and broadband operator UPC Slovenia from Liberty Global Inc. The transaction completed on 15 July 2009.

Mid Europa is a leading independent private equity investment firm focused on Central and Eastern Europe with approximately Euro 3.2 billion of assets under management.

UPC is the leading provider of analogue and digital cable, as well as the leading broadband operator in Slovenia, servicing approximately 40% of the pay TV households in the country through its nationwide network.

BLP partner, Robert Gross, said: “We are very pleased to have acted for Mid Europa on this transaction, which is the first leveraged buy-out transaction in Central and Eastern Europe since late 2008.”
