BLP advises European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on multi-million pound turbine wind project in Western Ukraine

International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the financing of a 12.3MW wind project in the Staryy Sambir region of western Ukraine.

The project entails the construction and commissioning of a five turbine wind farm. The €13.3m financing package is being provided by parallel loans from EBRD and the Clean Technology Fund (CFT).

The project is the first to receive funding under the EBRD’s Ukrainian Sustainable Energy Lending Facility (USELF), an investment facility of €70m (€50m from EBRD and €20m from the CTF) designed to provide finance for investment in Ukrainian renewables.

The deal was led by BLP partner Robert Gross, and assisted by senior associate Kiran Arora and associate Martin Lambe.
