Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP (BLP) has advised Cibitas Investments (East Manchester) Ltd on the planning application for Holt Town Waterfront in Manchester, one mile East of the city centre.

The application is for a 38 hectare mixed-use development which will provide 2,300 (mainly family) homes, a metrolink tram stop, a new school, office accommodation and a range of retail outlets at nearly 5 million square feet, it is the biggest planning application to ever be approved by Manchester City Council and one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK.

Cibitas Investments (East Manchester) Ltd will work in partnership with New East Manchester and Manchester City Council to deliver the scheme with the first sites being released to the market in 2008.

The BLP team was led by planning partner Tim Hellier who was assisted by senior associate, Sarah Fitzpatrick.

Commenting on the deal, Tim Hellier said:

“It has been a pleasure to work with the Cibitas team on such an exciting and innovative project which offers a new approach to meeting the need for good quality, affordable family housing and is the most important regeneration opportunity for East Manchester in recent years.  We look forward to continuing our work on the project and to developing our relationship with Cibitas in the future.”
