  • 13+ years’ experience of multi-disciplinary legal work relating to commercial property.
  • Specialising in complex retail developments, shopping centres and retail pre-lets. 
  • Advising on a broad range of commercial property matters with particular emphasis on investment development and large portfolio sales and purchases.
  • Significant retail development project experience, including the coordination of multi-disciplinary teams including tax, planning, construction and design teams, working closely with the local authorities and dealing with compulsory purchase orders.  
  • Previous projects range from: acquisitions and disposals of large multi-let properties and shopping centres (such as Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre) to the £200m Bracknell Town Centre regeneration and £85m extension of the Eastbourne Arndale Shopping Centre.
  • A track record leading large client teams, including Legal & General, Liverpool Victoria, DTZ Investment Management and Bracknell Regeneration Limited.

Sale of a shopping centre

Advised on the sale of the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. Acting for Legal & General on the investment sale of property (with over 80 tenants) for £150m.


Liverpool Victoria – Dukes Lodge

Sale of a large residential block in Holland Park for c£55m. A complex critical closing stage of the deal requiring significant stakeholder management to deal with multifaceted rights of occupation. Coordination of others teams included tax and real estate residential specialists.


Multi-asset led portfolios

Advised Pearl Insurance pension fund, P.A.T. Limited and fund managers, DTZ Investment Management on property asset sales and purchases amounting to over £250m in value. Acting as the key lead on deals and the client team, running all aspects of the real estate portfolio. The challenges of these multi-asset led portfolios were identifying early signs of risk, coordination of large multidiscipline teams, evaluating the detail whilst maintaining a bigger picture overview. Successful transactions for multi-let assets and portfolio properties include: 110 Park Street, High Street Birmingham, St Peters Retail Park in Northampton, Tokenspire Business Park in Hull, Aerodrome Way Industrial Estate in Heston, 130 City Road, 140 Old Street and 100 Bunhill Row in London’s “Tech City” area.


Bracknell Town Centre

Successfully led the team that advised the developer on the 580 sq. ft. of new retail and leisure space, supported by a 1,300-space multi-storey car park and landscaped public spaces for the regeneration of Bracknell Town Centre. Advised on all aspects of site acquisition and pre-lets. The £200 million regeneration of Bracknell town centre is due for completion in the spring of 2017.
