This team oversees everything from network analysis to technical support and training.

Marketing and Business Development

Our Marketing team of over 45 people ranges in specialism from events and communications, to research, international relations, and design. The largest team is built around business development and is split amongst the five pillars of the firm (Corporate, Real Estate, Finance, Tax and Litigation). This team also develops key sectors relating to the firm’s expertise - including real estate and finance as well as our international offices. Containing a mix of personalities and backgrounds, the diverse team supports the firm both in the UK and internationally in all aspects of professional services marketing.

Risk and Compliance

In light of the increasingly complex and international nature of our business, and our client's and marketplace expectations, we must ensure the firm is appropriately and effectively managing risk in relation to the delivery of our legal services and the operation of our business in accordance with the Solicitor's Code of Conduct.

Risk and Compliance is managed by a dedicated independent Risk and Compliance Department based in London with an international and cross-functional advisory remit. The team work closely with the Managing Partner, the Board and the Risk Committee to ensure co-ordination and alignment with our business objectives and a “clear line of sight” and accountability in respect of all areas of risk, including compliance and regulatory issues. Client due diligence and conflicts are managed by a specialist team to ensure compliance with applicable anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist legislation.

Our team’s objective is to manage risk at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner on an enterprise-wide basis which embeds ownership of risk at all levels across our business, enhances achievement of our strategic and business objectives and protects our reputation.

Secretarial

Other roles - In addition to our Legal PAs, we often have other secretarial and administrative roles on offer here.

Co-ordinators who oversee work allocation and deal with the day to day running of the teams.

Legal Admin Assistants who provide Legal PAs and Fee Earners with high quality administrative support that enables fee earners to focus on providing legal services to clients.

The roles in these teams offer a lot of variety and a great chance to be involved right across the firm. There are plenty of opportunities to put your talents to good use.

TESTIMONIALS

    Ross Macdonald, Cash Operations Manager

"I joined the firm in 2005. I was attracted to the firm due to its reputation and was keen to join a larger firm where I could improve on my knowledge gained in a far smaller practice. Working alongside an excellent team, I feel challenged to improve processes and efficiency. I fell that my progression within the department highlights the opportunities available."

Amasis Saba, Compliance Manager and Deputy MLRO

“Lawyers and ensuring compliance should be an easy job! But in my role as Compliance Manager and Deputy MLRO, no two days are the same.

My day doesn’t stop moving from the minute I arrive. I deal with a diverse range of issues from anywhere in our Group - conflicts, anti-money laundering, information security through to tough ethical issues that may impact our reputation. Our business has changed a lot over the last two years and I am now increasingly focused on helping the business navigate emerging market and cultural dynamics to find compliant solutions for our regulatory challenges.

I have the support of a diverse multi-lingual team and the people, atmosphere and work all help create an environment that genuinely makes me feel part of a team where my input and function makes a difference to the firm and its market position.

One day the business might slow down and I might have some time to learn the word “Director” in all the major languages – it’s quite handy for due diligence in Mongolian!”

    Alex Roots, Graduate Recruitment Assistant

“I absolutely love working in Graduate Recruitment and acting as an ambassador. My role as an Assistant is to recruit and attract the right candidates for us.

I joined the team in September 2017 just in time for the peak graduate recruitment season and since then there hasn’t been a ‘dull day’. If we haven’t got a scheme running, we will be busy planning the next one, or we will be at a networking event, or screening applicants and running assessment centres.

I love seeing a candidate progress throughout the process and a highlight for me was seeing a candidate whose application I had screened get through the assessment centre, have a fantastic vacation scheme and be offered a training contract. One day when that person is a Partner I will feel like I have been a part of that journey.

What I most enjoy most about my role is the relationships I have made with people across the firm. I made some fantastic relationships with Partners, Associates and Trainees along the way.

I am also impressed with the firm’s willingness to support my own personal development. I came from a performing arts background and my skills are always celebrated. I am often trying to think of creative ways we can showcase the work we do. As a team, we don’t just want to be keeping up with our competitors, we want to be leading the pack, so we are constantly challenging ourselves.”
