Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP (“BLP”) is a limited liability partnership registered in England and Wales (registered number OC315919) and is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (the “SRA”), whose rules can be obtained from www.sra.org.uk/handbook/. A list of partners of BLP  is open to inspection at its registered office: Adelaide House, London Bridge, London EC4R 9HA, United Kingdom. Within the BLP Group, partner is used to refer to a member, or an employee or consultant with equivalent standing and/or qualifications as required, of BLP or any of its affiliated firms and entities.

Lawyers and other staff based in BLP’s London office are regulated by the SRA. Lawyers practising other than as England and Wales solicitors are also regulated by the relevant professional body in their place of admission.

BLP is not authorised under the UK Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA), but is able in certain circumstances to offer a limited range of investment services to clients if they are an incidental part of the professional services BLP has been engaged to provide because we are members of the Law Society.

BLP is not authorised by the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA). However, we are included on the register maintained by the FSA so that we can carry on insurance mediation activity, which is broadly the advising on, selling and administration of insurance contracts. This part of BLP’s business, including arrangements for complaints or redress if something goes wrong, is regulated by the SRA.  The register can be accessed via the FSA website at www.fsa.gov.uk/register.

The Law Society is a designated professional body for the purposes of FSMA. The SRA is the independent regulatory arm of the Law Society. The Legal Ombudsman is an independent body set up to decide certain categories of complaints which cannot be resolved within a firm’s Complaints Procedure. If you are unhappy with any insurance advice you receive from us, you should raise your concerns with either of those bodies.
