Our practice is focused on acting for corporate clients and individuals who become subject to negative or intrusive media coverage or actions.

We advise on both pre and post publication issues.

We favour a proactive rather than reactive approach seeking to avoid criticism of our clients in the media rather than suing after the fact. In keeping our clients out of the media we regularly deal directly with journalists, editors and producers as well as clients’ in-house PR expertise or external agencies.

Dealing with post publication issues requires a fast response and clear legal strategy. Where possible we aim to resolve the issue without the need for litigation. In situations when litigation is the right course of action, we will pursue your case vigorously.

We also advise on increasingly important multi-jurisdictional aspects in this area. We advise overseas clients on their exposure to English defamation and privacy laws via publication into England in the print, but more usually, on-line media. We also now regularly advise foreign clients being attacked from overseas based publishers and websites about effective means to prevent further publication by exposing the publishers to English law and jurisdiction. 

Our work also involves protecting our clients from attacks that stray into harassment.  We have advised high profile individuals, as well as corporate clients wishing to protect employees.
