Shari'a Wealth Structuring

loading, please wait...

Particular issues arise in relation to high net worth individuals who wish their wealth structuring to comply with Shari’a law.

Our team are familiar with the issues which concern such clients from the fiqh of mu’aamalaat (general rules on transactions) to rules on Shari’a succession and investments.  We also understand the obligations for the family that need to be considered, such as payments of zakah (obligatory alms). We have considerable experience designing and advising Muslim clients on the establishment of bespoke wealth structures.

Philanthropy is important for Muslim families and Shari’a issues will also shape any philanthropic structure - for example meeting zakah obligations and establishing charitable foundations, or an Islamic Waqf, to establish Sadaqa Jariya (ongoing voluntary charity). We work closely and directly with Shari’a scholars and are able to draw upon expertise from our offices in Abu Dhabi and Singapore in navigating the local laws of relevant jurisdictions and any conflicts.

Our knowledge and experience means we can meet the specific Shari’a requirements of a client from the outset.
