Clients and work in this area include:

  • Acted for Liverpool City Council and helped settle a claim worth over £100m against the Council over issues concerning Chavasse Park in Liverpool city centre. The settlement was significant because it avoided what was likely to be a 50 day trial.
  • Acted for Legal & General in connection with litigation arising from its £240m sale of Walbrook Square, a prime development site in the City of London, which is part of a landmark scheme designed by Lord Foster and Jean Nouvel.
  • Acted for a large developer in obtaining vacant possession of their site at Gateshead shopping centre, from 154 tenants, before the redevelopment of their site, which includes the multi-storey car park where the film "Get Carter" was filmed. We achieved this without any litigation.
  • Acted for Tesco in a £50 million professional negligence claim against a well-known firm of solicitors arising from their conduct of a property transaction and subsequent litigation in the Czech Republic.
  • Represented the successful landlord, Riverland, in the landmark case NCR Limited v Riverland Portfolio No. 1 Limited which clarified the law in relation to a landlord’s obligations to act reasonably in connection with applications for licence to sub-let.
