Our Project Finance team advise on major project financings both in the UK and overseas. We advise sponsors, lenders and procuring authorities across sectors as diverse as defence, roads, hospitals, schools, social housing, police and fire services accommodation, oil and gas and energy (both conventional and renewable).
In the UK we have been involved in some of the largest and most innovative PFI/PPP projects that have come to the market. We advised the sponsors on the UK Military Flight Training System project (the first PFI project to adopt the "integrator model", a development of the partnering concept) and have also advised on the M25 London Motorway and the Future Strategic Air Tanker (FSTA) projects. We have been successful in exporting our PFI/PPP experience overseas and advised the sponsors on the first PPP project in the Caribbean and on a number of roads and accommodation projects in Central and Eastern Europe.
Our team also has a strong emphasis on financing infrastructure for the energy industries. Much of this work is internationally based, primarily but not exclusively in the Middle East. The team advised the Government of Oman on the Barka II Independent Water and Power Project and the Privatisation of Al-Rusail Power Company, which was awarded Global Deal of the Year 2007 by Euromoney's Project Finance Magazine and has been re-appointed to advise on a new 700 MW and 25 MIGD power and desalination facility to be constructed in the Sultanate. Alongside conventional power projects, we also have extensive experience of financing renewables projects and understand the unique transactional and regulatory issues that these projects face.
