2011 a year of casualties?

2 November 2010

There are major industry-changing challenges facing the local and global IT and outsourcing supply markets.  These will have far-reaching effects on outsourcing customers and the deals that are done.  What does this mean for customers now and in the future?  How can they anticipate and protect themselves from the risks?  Are there new opportunities in how they contract with suppliers?  These new challenges include:

  • regulation - greater visibility of financial engineering and the full disclosure of liabilities that must be shown on the balance sheet
  • financing longer-running bids and more complex, riskier, deals - are there alternatives to on-balance sheet funding?
  • further consolidation of the supply community leading to less choice and higher pricing, however ...
  • ... “the king is dead, long live the king”: enter new global outsourcing suppliers, new delivery and security issues, brand new risks – can it possibly work?
  • “your staff, your problem” – why suppliers cannot afford to take on your “greatest asset”
  • RFP consultancies come of age – so what!
  • accountability comes of age – careers that are about to be ruined
