Is 2011 the year of the cloud? The present and furture of cloud computing

6 April 2011

After doubting statements a few years ago from IT industry leaders like Larry Ellison and Vineet Nayar, we are now told that Cloud Computing is set to become the norm in computing.  But why is it that so many CIOs still worry about security in public and hybrid Cloud models?  How viable is the new generation of Cloud Computing providers and how dependable are their services?  Who will succeed in the brave new IT services world?  Will Cloud Computing displace IT outsourcing as the predominant IT services model?

These and other questions were addressed by our keynote speaker, Malcolm Swallow, senior consultant with leading sourcing advisers, EquaTerra, now part of KPMG.  Malcolm has worked in IT for over 20 years and has been responsible for delivering IT as a CIO and in a leading provider.  He shared with us his personal perspective and the experience of one of the world's top sourcing consultancies on the current state and future of Cloud Computing.
