Louise Watkin

Louise Watkin is a seventeen-year old disability swimmer, who won four medals in the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing.  Her medal tally includes silver in the 100m freestyle and bronze medals in the 200m individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.  Louise, who holds three European and five British records, is hoping to further improve her performance in two years time at the London Paralympics in 2012. 

Her most recent events include the 2009 IPC European Swimming Championships in Reykjavik, where she won seven medals, including five gold. The 2009 Paralympic World Cup saw Louise scoop gold in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 100m freestyle. Louise also won three medals at the British Long Course Championships.

Louise currently attends Kelly College in Devon, which is home to a specialist swimming club, and in 2008, was named Surrey Young Sports Personality of the Year.
