In a difficult economic climate where there is much uncertainty, the underlying need for housing has not diminished. As new approaches to the housing market develop, more innovative and pragmatic advice is required. Our cross-practice team of specialists are equipped to assist, whether this involves the restructuring of existing deals or the creation of new products. Our expertise ranges from estate renewal and PFI to “hedging”, listed financial instruments and the potential structuring of a residential REIT.

We have been advising the housing sector for many years and currently act for a number of housing associations, particularly in respect of finance, development and tax work.  Our clients include government bodies, financial institutions, development consortiums and investors. We have also been involved in the structuring of major regeneration projects.

In addition, we are working with our investor and developer clients in looking at residential property as a “new investment class” as they look at ways to capitalise on a growing private sector rental market.
