Clients and work in this area include:

  • Tesco - Advised on the very large, multi-party dispute arising from the collapse of the partially constructed tunnel supporting the new Tesco Store at Gerrards Cross and also advised in respect of claims arising from the development of a Tesco Extra superstore at the Arena 2001 site for Coventry Football Club.
  • ENI Group - Advised on projects including the development of the Karachaganak gas reservoir in Kazakhstan as well as advising Snamprogetti SpA (part of ENI Group) on a styrene monomer production plant in Bandar Assaluyeh, Iran.
  • UKAEA - Advised on a £70m claim against a consortium of companies, including BNFL and Rolls Royce, engaged to decommission the fire-affected Pile 1 nuclear plant at Sellafield.
  • Vinci - Advising the project company in relation to a number of adjudications arising out of the construction contract and project agreement on a PFI scheme for a police headquarters. 
  • Kuwait Controls - Acted in relation to disputes with a Korean EPC contractor in relation to a large crude oil processing plant in Northern Kuwait.  The disputes were resolved under the rules of the London Court of International Arbitration.
  • Lowery - Represented Lowery in multi-million pound adjudication and litigation proceedings against a main contractor arising out of a contract for works on the rail system for Network Rail.
  • Stent (part of the Balfour Beatty Group) - Represented it in a complex, multi-party action involving proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court and a mediation.
  • Yorkshire Water - Acted on its behalf on a £12m claim against Taylor Woodrow and other parties in relation to the construction of a sequence batch reactor at one of Yorkshire’s largest sewage treatment works through to a 3 month trial and an appeal.
  • Capita Symonds - We acted for in relation to claims brought against it by some members of its sub-consultant professional team in relation to the design of the Dubai Metro.  Some of the contracts provided for arbitration, others provided for litigation.  Favourable settlements were achieved in all three disputes. 
  • Kindasa Water Services - Acted for this Middle Eastern water company in relation to a large dispute relating to the construction of its new desalination plant.  The dispute arose under the FIDIC Silver book contract which provided for ICC arbitration but was settled in negotiation without formal proceedings commencing.
