The Gambia is "ready to do business"

Posted by on

The Gambia is “ready to do business” said the Hon. Fafa Sanyang, Minister of Petroleum and Energy at an exclusive ‘Promoting The Gambia: Oil & Gas Opportunity’ event hosted last week at our offices in London in association with the Gambian government and Amie Bensouda & Co LP.

The event saw the announcement that The Gambia will be opening eight of the country’s oil & gas blocks for tender and set out their timeline for bidding in a move to develop the vast hydrocarbon opportunities in the country. Government officials provided an update on the anticipated selection process due to be implemented in the coming months as the country engages with the petroleum industry, detailed information on the hydrocarbon investment opportunities and a road map to licensing the open blocks.

Commenting on the announcements, Alexander Sarac, Head of Africa Energy and Infrastructure at BLP said “The Government of the Gambia and the Ministry of Petroleum have been diligently planning and preparing the next steps in bringing the available hydrocarbon blocks to market. The transparent process that was prepared shows the readiness of The Gambia to engage with investors and to open up to the world in this exciting frontier market in West Africa.”
