Elections Results

 

The Myanmar General Elections successfully completed on 8 November 2015. Following the dramatic win of NLD, this marks a new chapter in Myanmar’s future. The Lower House is expected to convene by 6 February 2016. Elected representatives of the Lower House, elected representatives of the Upper House and the military appointees each select a presidential candidate. Parliament votes for the next President.

The success of the elections is likely to give investors fresh confidence to look at the many investment opportunities in Myanmar, as it continues its transition.

BLP's expansion into Myanmar

 

We have announced our intention to open our first office in Myanmar with the appointment of Partner Chris Hughes, former Managing Partner in Baker & McKenzie’s Yangon office, to lead the expansion. This will be the our 14th office in the 12th country, and further strengthens and extends our presence in Asia where we currently has offices in China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
