The Law Commission Consultation Paper on Rights to Light has made a number of provisional proposals and asked a number of questions on which it has invited responses by 16 May 2013 . We are working with a number of clients to inform them of the implications of the Paper and to help them formulate and draft their responses to it. Once the Law Commission makes its final recommendations and presents them to government, it may be some time before implementation. The opportunity to ensure that the recommendations work for the industry will not come again for the foreseeable future . This means that property owners have a unique opportunity to make their views known and importantly to provide evidence to the Law Commission about the impact of rights to light on the potential for development. There is just over one month left before the consultation period ends. Even if you only have comments about one of the proposals make sure your voice is heard.
