Laura Robson

Laura is one of the country’s leading young tennis players.  At the age of 14 she was ranked number one in the world in her age group, and was competing, and making finals, in under-18 international tournaments.

In June 2008, Laura won the Eastbourne junior tournament and, the following week, was a finalist on grass at the Roehampton international event.  She then crowned a memorable week at Wimbledon by winning the junior title.  The youngest player in the tournament, she defeated the number three seed in the final to become the first British junior champion for 24 years.

In November 2008, Laura won her first senior title with victory in the ITF-sanctioned women's tournament in Sunderland.   Laura spent December in Florida before reaching the final of the junior open in Australia in January.
